The ninth track off of The Aphelion's debut album, The Labour Division
In this track, it is revealed that not all of the people in the Father's city are bad, and tells the tale of two young brothers who endeavour to see what lays beyond the wall. There, they encounter our protagonists, with ghoulish consequences.
lyrics
Gracefully he leads the way
Musing we might seize the day
We push on through the market square
Waving to the locals there
Marching to the city walls
So soon we are to make our move
Oh yes, the unsuspecting crowds
We rise, they take their fatal bow
Nightfall
Plotting
Nesting
Dreamers
Daybreak
Mobile
Positions
Ready
Declaring there will be casualty
That war was not meant to be clean
Lives tainted by Father’s love
Won’t mean much in the aftermath
All over
It’s all over now
Over
Now
Shadows from the mountainside
Casting over the city’s winding
Streets and houses all around
Trees scattered like jewel on crown
The innocent sleep restlessly
Though why their minds have yet to see
Listless dreams and black cloud skies
Knowing naught of truth, yet not of lie
Not of lie
(And so has it come to this?)
The sun smiles down on me
Wander by Father’s palace guards
Still they stare out at the great wall
“Pay no mind” my brother grins
“They’ve pledged themselves to his beck and call”
And we crept our way past the monolith divide
Silent shriek, brother is gone
Following suit, pulled through the brush
Lost in the woods, first casualties
Worlds torn apart, eyes tear glazed
Consideration, stricken down
Let it be swift, no fear or pain
Too cruel, they are young, set them free
Cannot be free, if they speak of us
All is for naught, all is lost
Pleading for their still young lives
But war was not meant to be clean
Bloodstains on our hands
See them not as a plight
On all we’ve done
But just a prelude
To dominion

Antlion are a killer tech-death/prog metal band from Ottawa that do great stuff. The Prescient is full of math-y, crazy heavy tracks. Definitely worth a listen. The Aphelion
